Annesanti 2018 Acqua della Serpa 750mL
Francesco Annesanti says that his soul is in his wine. Francesco naturally farms and vinifies in a minimalist manner by himself; he hand bottles, labels and waxes the bottle tops himself. He personally designed all of his labels and even made the desk that he uses.
Francesco’s Cantina is in an off the beaten path, rural part of Umbria, where vines are not typically planted. He is a true artist, creating harmonious expressions of old vine Trebbiano Spoletino, Malvasia and Grechetto, alongside non-indigenous varieties such as Pinot Noir and Merlot. His rarest wines are fermented in terra cotta amphora and aged in glass demijohn; with bottle counts numbering in the hundreds each vintage.
Acqua della Serpa – “Water of the Snake”. 500 bottles produced. Predominately Trebbiano Spoletino, Grechetto and Malvasia; fermented in terra cotta amphora on a portion of the skins for 10 months. Acqua della Serpa is aged in glass demijohn for 3 months following fermentation and is bottled without fining or filtration, during clear skies and a waning moon. Its intense and harmonious, with more pronounced floral elements compared to Colle Fregiara. A wine to savor and contemplate; again without the typical intense astringency associated with skin contact whites.
