5/10 Wine Class: The Wines of Georgia
Thursday May 10, 6:30-8:30pm
The Republic of Georgia, located in the Caucasus, is home to earliest evidence of winemaking in the world. From stainless steel and temperature control to clay pots buried in the ground, today that long tradition gives us a wide variety of wines in a uniquely Georgian style. We invite you to join us as we explore these wines with ancient roots. Our guide on the journey will be Kosta Chernikov of Georgian Toast, Massacusetts' major importer of Georgian wines. Kosta is dedicated to bringing the character and story of Georgian wines to the United States, and will bring a lot of firsthand experience and connections to share with us.
This overview of Georgian wines is a great way to learn more about wine, and will offer intriguing facts and flavors to both those who are new to wine and to the experts. Small bites to accompany the wine will be provided, but we encourage you to come early and visit the cheese counter if you'd like a more substantial snack.
